I thought I would do a preview for my upcoming week on Ewan at the Cinema, which admittedly is mostly home-viewing based. I’ve got reviews of Abbas Kiarostami’s film Copie conforme (Certified Copy, 2010) with Juliette Binoche and opera singer William Shimell, another multi-faceted ontological disquisition, and Skyfall (2012), Sam Mendes’s entry into the long-running James Bond canon.
I should also have a new Movie Lottery series entry, on the strange and laconic Italian film Le quattro volte (2010), which is sort of about goat-herding, and sort of about life itself. It’s also quite possible that I will get around to watching Jennifer Lawrence’s break-out performance in Winter’s Bone (2010).
For new releases, there’s Blancanieves (2012), a Spanish silent-film retelling of the Snow White myth, which is — and I hope this isn’t spoilers for my review — so much better than it had any right to be.
Maybe I will do these posts more regularly to fill up my usual weekend dead-time. Hope to see you here next week!
